Amoeba Music boasts the title of “largest independent record shop in the world” and it’s not hard to believe when you gaze out across their crammed racks of cds and vinyl.
 
Started in 1990 in Berkeley, California by former employees of Rasputin Records, the passion the owners and their staff have for music at Amoeba is evident in their rows of hundreds of thousands of records. Berkeley has always been known as a haven of radicalism and at Amoeba Music embodies a lot of that spirit by remaining independent in the face of big business and the rapidly changing music world.
