Basic Instinct 2: On Location, Outside London

When ‘Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction’ headed to the UK in 2006, the sequel set up shop in London, except for one very creepy old castle. You can see it about a minute into the trailer. So … where in the world is it? Answer, after the jump…

 

 

In the movie, it may play a mental institution, but in real life it’s Founder’s Hall at Royal Holloway, a satellite of the University of London in Surrey. You have to wait until the end of the movie to see it, but to visit Royal Holloway, it’s just a short train ride to Egham, 40 minutes outside of London. Thanks to our good friends in Boston — Dave Havelick and Cinema Steve Walsh, who were students at Royal Holloway when the movie was filmed — for passing this along.
